PIDassist: Status bar

PIDassist status bar

The bottom of the PIDassist screen is the status bar. This has several panels. From left to right these are:

  1. An expanded explanation of the Mode.
  2. An undo counter. This shows you how many undo levels have been captured.
  3. The current log file name
  4. The SPLat (board) connection.

The last one is the most important one, and also doubles as a connect/disconnect button. PIDassist will automatically scan all COM ports looking for a SPLat board. While that is taking place the connection status panel will show what's happening. If you click on the panel it will "isolate" the board, meaning it disconnects from the board (if connected) and stops scanning. This is useful to stop "jerky" operation of PIDassist when there's no board present, and also to release the COM port if you want to talk to the board with SPLat/PC (only one application program at a time can use a COM port).
