In SPLat/PC Build 172 or later we have added controls to let you set the SimpleHMI aspect ratio and screen width (characters across).

The screen shot above shows the following controls down the righthand side:
Clicking this sends a Connected event code to the SPLat controller.
Clicking this resets the SimpleHMI display to the default screen (no text, default buttons) using the current aspect ratio and width settings.
Draws ruler lines (as shown above with a cyan background colour)
The buttons in this panel let you set the screen aspect ratio
Lets you set the number of characters across the screen (hint, after setting the width, click Ruler to find out how many rows the program estimates will fit on an Android device)
Exposes the logging window and re-draws the SimpleHMI screen to fit
