The controller needs to be connected to a PC for program download. The full process of connecting to the PC is described in the help file that comes with SPLat/PC, our programming software. It is also covered in the online interactive training course.
The connection cable you will need is a simple serial cable. You can buy these in most computer stores. If you make your own you need the following wiring (these pinouts are for DB9 connectors):

You also need a computer with a serial (COM) port. Modern notebook computers tend not to have COM ports. In that case you will need a USB to Serial adaptor. Not all such adaptors work equally well. The ones we find work are based on the FTDI chipset, and are for sale on our website.
