New counter feature

We have just released free upgrade feature for all current model off-the-shelf SPLat controllers. It is called OnBoard Counter B (OBCB). With this counter you have 8 channels of medium speed (up to 1.8kHz) counting that can be used for frequency or events. OBCB is documented here.

This firmware upgrade takes all current standard controllers to dialect 19. You can download the reFlash firmware upgrade file free from our file download area. The instructions on how to reFlash a board are here.

Please contact us if you are using a custom SPLat controller and could benefit from this feature.

OBCB complements the OnBoard Counter type A (OBCA). OBCA can count up to 65kHz (depending on controller model) on a single channel, using a hardware facility on the processor chip. By contrast, OBCB is implemented purely in firmware.

The other built in counting feature is the OnBoard Quadrature Counter (OBQC). The OBQC decodes pulses from a quadrature encoder to produce up/down position counting.
